Petruk Republic vs Pandawa Republic

I will not write a complete review of the performance (read in Tempo, Kompas, Jakarta Post or Jakarta Globe).

I am interested more in the clash between oligarchic and meritocratic nature mention (not-so) implicitly.

Why is it in the wayang pakem, the king must (at least claim or married to) be royal descent. Could be a (supposedly) good governance like Pandawa or (supposedly) bad one like Kurawa.

But when a plebian descent tried to be a king (and govern supposedly good) then both Pandawa n Kurawa as well as other royal blood base kingdom join forces to attack.

Petruk is shown as smart, well travel and multilingual. He won the kingdom fair and square in a public match. He bring (some) prosperity to the people. Why coudnt he remain as King.

At the end of the performance, thousands of Kalimusada is spread over the stage and audience. There are no heavan appointee anymore, anyone want to govern the people must convince (enough) people to lend their Kalimusada in the ballot box. Not bullet. Not coup d'tat.

May Indonesia stay as Petruk Republik
